| critique U.S: | Citation: | Just watched Kill Switch, and I'm sorry I did. Kill Switch, from start to finish, was just awful. I mean, this film really was trash, with no exaggeration. In all aspects of the film, acting, editing, cinematography, dialogue, Kill Switch is by far Seagal's worst. Then again, having never seen Flight of Fury, I would definitely consider this in line with Attack Force as Seagal's worst.
Should I even say Seagal? I really shouldn't, seeing as the total screen time of the actual Seagal is only about 45 minutes. It's truly pathetic how often we see Seagal's stunt double. Every fight scene is long and dragged out, boring and repetitive, as well as unwatchable because the editor felt it was necessary to jump cut every half second for "stylish" purposes. Besides Seagal's stunt double being seen so frequent, we also hear Seagal being dubbed about every other line. And for no reason either. There is no reason why Seagal needs to be dubbed for the scenes he's in. It's just poor production. And his voice overs sound nothing like him, as usual.
And why does Seagal feel the need to talk like he's a black man raised in the south. He's not. He's a white boy from Michigan. I don't understand why Seagal does that. He's not black, he's not a rapper, it's not cool. He sounds dumb when he says "right quick" or "Lo'rd have mercy!" It's one thing to spit out those phrases while singing the blues, but he really needs to drop the charming, bluesman wannabe black act fast...like right quick fast.
The action, like I said, is too long, dragged on, repetitive...just really bad. The gun fights are stupid. Why do directors of recent Seagal movies have extended gun fights where nobody gets shot, but the people just continue to fire for minutes long. At one point, all you hear are bullets, and the gun sound effects are childish.
Basically, this movie was shot, produced, and edited by a 16 year old. It's awful from start to finish, and basically unwatchable. I KNOW you will all be disappointed with this stinker. |
| Citation: | I make it simple...
the good thing about KILL SWITCH: - good plot....more diferrent than the last scripts, just love those serial killer movies - again super soundtrack, they are getting better and better - nice directing style from King - only nice fight...... (the last one made by Seagal in full) - finally brutal is back (the tooth in the table, thing - priceless
the bad things in KILL SWITCH - wierd accent by Steven (dubbed ??? maybe) - stupid, dubbed lines put by producers or some stupid f*** when the fights are getting place - the fights made by Seagal and King were good, but some f***** producers took his double, some cameras and had to make the fights longer then they where at the beginning. You can see that they put those stupid scenes in the middle of every fight (the looooooong bar fight for example) you can see that Steven is starting and end the fights but in the middle there is Hristov put there for no reason. |

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Let me start off by saying that I'm an enormous Seagal fan and that I've watched and own all of his movies (both VHS and DVDS), amongst other collectibles.
I watched a screener of KS last night and overall found it very disappointed. I had high hopes as I was spoiled by Seagal doing his own talking, walking (mostly) and fight scenes in Pistol Whipped and Urban Justice. I really hoped that our hero was finally back on the path to success by making movies that brought memories of his earlier work.
Let me break down my review:
Plot
I was expecting a lot from the plot as I like the idea of Seagal staring in a thriller. Again with high hopes after PS and UJ I wanted to see a well made thriller (with a simple plot). Unfortunately the plot was convoluted and nonsensical to say the least. Someone please explain the need of the scene at the end? was that supposed to be his family? The little boy called him Papa? I wish the plot was more like Glimmer Man instead of Attack Force meets Jonathan Cold
Action
The shot outs were horrible. And overall the action scenes mediocre.
Fight Scenes
I could have cried after watching the fight scenes in this movie. I would have to agree with Little Dragon that approx 97% of the fight scenes are done by a stunt double. I'm not sure if it's just the hardcore fans, but I'm pretty certain that anyone would notice the stunt "doubleness". I think the reason for the quick cuts and crazy editing was simply to hide the double. Think they could have done a better job? The only fight scene that was all Seagal (mostly anyways) was the one at the end... which was horrible... reminded me of when he beat up the girl at the end of attack force... very disappointing.
Cinematography
The movie itself looks great for it's budget. It was very easy on the eyes and in my opinion had such potential.
Audio
A lot of people have talked about the dubbing but I didn't really find it that bad. Most people couldn't tell if it was dubbed or not... So if you cannot tell for sure then atleast they found a voice actor that sounds somewhat like Seagal, I guess we should be thankful for that... The dubbing in KS is not nearly as bad as Out of Reach
Overall
Overall the movie was disappointing and the amount of dubbled fight scenes completely ruined it for me. Seagal looked good and I'm happy to see the big man working, but I want more! Still optimistic for Ruslan. |

A Higher Form Of Learning) is actually his very first cinematic adventure for maverick distributor First Look Pictures. Unfortunately, all of the usual problems from his years with Sony Pictures remain intact. The film finds our aging hero portraying emotionally scarred crime fighter Jacob King, a seasoned detective who's hot on the trail of not one, but two savage serial killers. Though the story itself continues to branch away from those cheap military actioners he's become extremely infamous for, it's still a drastic step backwards from his previous two efforts, 2007's Urban Justice and 2008's Pistol Whipped. If you can imagine an unholy marriage between an early James Patterson novel and a cheap blaxploitation flick starring a blues-addicted white man with a faux Creole accent, you'd have something remarkably similar to director Jeff King's goofy little feature. In fact, were it not for two or three blood-soaked fight sequences -- all of which employ the use of a stunt double and an over-achieving editor -- Kill Switch would have been a total bore. If you fancy a go, leave logic and good taste at the door.
Recipe For Mediocrity: One Ridiculous Accent + An Uncomfortably Sexist Attitude + Seagal's Questionable Use Of A Hammer
One More Thing: Remember that scene at the beginning of American History X? The one with the guy biting the curb?
Steven Seagal and Jeff King do, too. |

et je confirme que cette jaquette servira bien dans certain pays, exemples: en Asie ou pays de l Est...
